I went to a seminar the day before yesterday called "Blogging 101" by Yvonne DiVita at the Rochester NAWBO. What a great way to learn the ABCs of this new form of communication. Well, new to me at least!
I really liked the fact that blogs are informal, short and personal. Also that a good blog adds value to the reader by providing links and teaching something. As a life long learner, I hope to build my competencies with this entire new world of knowledge-sharing. I already went to check out some blogs and I was caught up until 3 in the morning. Just could not stop reading, like a child who learns to pedal the bike for the first time. So, my immediate reaction was to go to TypePad and open my very own blog..... going down hill....shaking....screaming.... was this the right thing to do? OH MY GOD!!!
I am taking a breath.. and visiting some of the role models I mentioned before:
www.lipsticking.com I loved it! And it was a great first experience. Like the first kiss! To the point, that here I am.
www.blogher.com Wow, a lot of interesting blogs related to women, business and whatever you like.
http://mom2my6pack.blogspot.com/ This one, I found myself and it looks great. I have a feeling that I will learn and laugh a whole lot here.
http://www.ikeepsafe.org This one is not a blog, but it's one of my favorite sites about kid's safety on the web. One of my favorite subjects to study and write about.
Now, I need to remove the small wheels. So I would like to ask experienced bloggers out there to hold me during my first rides. Please give me advise on how to make this a successful and fun experience. As curious as I am, it is amazing to think that I have been literary avoiding blogs to the point that only yesterday I found the courage to open one. If I fall now, the trauma will be huge so please hold me tight!!!!
The good thing is that I have a clear strategy for this blog.
1) I would like to promote a new social network for families and community groups that seek to build stronger relationships – stronger capacity and stronger partnerships. It will be called FamilyEden.com and it will go live very very soon.
2) I would like to connect to other moms who are struggling between kids (3 boys under 6) and career. Share experiences, tips, lessons and so forth.
3) I would like to open a dialog among international families that are divided by geographical distance, language barriers, cultural differences and seek creative ways to build and maintain common denominators, family traditions and family tides.
I would like to have fun and an excuse to leave the dishes to my husband since typing so fast in the computer will really look like Work!! :)
